Patty goes back to lurve school.

Episode 7F15
Written by David Stem
Directed by Mark Kirkland
Also starring: Pamela Hayden, Maggie Roswell
Special guest voice: Marcia Wallace (as Ms Krabappel)

Premise: Selma must find a husband. Homer thinks he's found the perfect match - Principal Skinner. But Skinner falls for Patty - who comes to realise that her life of celibacy might have been an error.

Features: Barney, Mrs Winfield, Krusty, Otto, Apu, Hans Moleman, Principal Skinner, Stanley, Richard, Milhouse, Lewis, Chief Wiggum, Sherri and Terri, Moe, the two barflies.

Couch: The Simpsons rush in - and get caught in the sofabed.

And introducing: Groundskeeper Willie.

Trivia:

  • The rotating restaurant in Springfield is the Sit-n-Rotate Room.
  • Patty and Selma are 40, and live in apartment 1599.
  • Patty and Skinner see Space Mutants V: The Land Down Under.
  • Gee, Your Lip Looks Hairless is a kind of beauty product.
  • Seymour has extensive files on Bart's tardiness, rudeness and vandalism amongst others.
  • Homer's work number is KLondike 5.6832, home is KLondike 5.6754 and Moe's Tavern is KLondike 5.1239.
  • Happy Hour at Moe's lasts thirty minutes (naturally), between 5 and 5.30 p.m.
  • Selma sings Brandy, a 1971 hit for Scott English.

Homage: There's a scene recreated from Vertigo (Alfred Hitchcock, 1958), as Principal Skinner climbs the school tower. Homer's attempts to locate a suitable man for Patty include a computer-enhanced overlay on his vision that closely resembles that used by The Terminator (James Cameron, 1984). And Principal Skinner's final return to the school is straight out of Gone With the Wind.

Hello, can I speak to: Homer Sexual.

Notes: Good fun, with both Patty and Selma gaining a degree of humanity. Bart makes very good use of his new-found freedom as Skinner's pseudo-in-law, much to the annoyance of Groundskeeper Willie, making his first appearance.
