The Simpsons | Episode Guide | Season Three
Bart the Murderer

Bart's given an offer he can't refuse.

Episode 8F03
Written by John Swartzwelder
Directed by Rich Moore
Additional cast: JoAnn Harris, Pamela Hayden
Special guest voices: Joe Mantegna (as Don Tony), Phil Hartman (as Lionel Hutz), Neil Patrick Harris (as himsell), Marcia Wallace (as Ms Krabappel)

Premise: Bart's having a bad day - but it gets even worse, and then much better when he finds himself at the Legitimate Businessman's Social Club, home of Don Tony's mob. The gang can grant Bart his greatest desire - the death of Principal Skinner.

Features: Ms Krabappel, Ralph Wiggum, Nelson, Richard, Lewis, Principal Skinner, Miss Hoover, Milhouse, Troy McClure, Chief Wiggum, Groundskeeper Willie, Rev. Lovejoy, Lionel Hutz, Smithers, Mr Burns, Eddie.

Couch: The family form a pyramid, with Maggie on top.

Homage: Principally GoodFellas (Martin Scorsese, 1990), in which a young boy is employed by the Mob as their messenger (the sequence when Bart falls down the steps into the cellar club is very similar) - but also The Godfather (Francis Ford Coppola, 1972). Bart sings Frank Sinatra's Witchcraft in the kitchen.

Hi, I'm Troy McClure, you may remember me from: Such films as The Revenge of Abe Lincoln and The Wackiest Covered Wagon in the West.

Itchy and Scratchy in: The Sounds of Silencers.

Notes: This episode contains what may be Principal Skinner's finest hour, as he explains away his apparent death to a stunned courtroom.
