The Simpsons | Episode Guide | Season Five
Treehouse of Horror IV

Three terrifying tales of menace and murder.

Episode 1F04
Written by Conan O'Brien, Bill Oakley, Josh Weinstein, Greg Daniels, Dan McGrath and Bill Canterbury
Directed by David Silverman
Additional cast: Pamela Hayden, Russi Taylor, Frank Welker
Special guest voices: Phil Hartman (as Lionel Hutz)

Premise: In The Devil and Homer Simpson, Homer makes a pact with the Devil - his soul for a doughnut. Nightmare at Five Feet sees Bart's schoolbus menaced by a monster. Dracula features a vampiric Mr Burns out for blood.

Tombstones: Elvis - Accept It, A Balanced Budget, Subtle Political Satire and TV Violence.

Homage: The Twilight Zone again, although this time there are also nods to Night Gallery, with Bart in the role of its host Rod Serling. The closing sequence is a reference to Merry Christmas, Charlie Brown, another seasonal cartoon special.

Mmmmm: ...forbidden donut.

Look out for: Hell's Jury, including Blackbeard and Richard Nixon.

Notes: Probably the best of the Treehouses of Horror, with many notable sequences. We're particularly fond of Hell's Dept of Ironic Punishments and Chief Wiggum's attempts to deal with Dracula.
