The Simpsons | Episode Guide | Season Six
Lemon of Troy

The dogs of war come to Springfield.

Episode 2F22
Written by Brent Forrester
Directed by Jim Reardon
Also starring: Pamela Hayden, Tress MacNeille, Russi Taylor
Special guest voice: Marcia Wallace (as Ms Krabappel)

Premise: The people of Springfield and the people of neighbouring Shelbyville have despised each other for centuries. Now the battle's coming to a head - over a lemon tree.

Features: Grampa, Nelson, Martin, Todd, Ned Flanders, Dr Frink, Milhouse, the van Houtens, Ms Krabappel, Jebediah.

Couch: The primitively animated Simpsons rush in - and judder.

Homage: Milhouse quotes the chorus of Prince's 1984 hit When Doves Cry. We also hear Louis Armstrong's 1968 hit What a Wonderful World.

Song: Martin sings a grateful folk song in honour of Nelson.

Notes: There are some nice ideas in this episode - Bart and his chums all have near-doubles in Shelbyville - but this is a strangely pedestrian outing, and seems hidden away - wisely - at this point in the season.
