The Simpsons | Episode Guide | Season Seven
Raging Abe Simpson and his Grumbling Grandson...

Grampa Simpson hasn't forgotten the war yet.

Episode 3F19
Written by Jonathan Collie
Directed by Jeffrey Lynch
Also starring: Pamela Hayden, Tress MacNeille, Maggie Roswell, Russi Taylor
Special guest voice: Marcia Wallace (as Ms Krabappel)

That title in full: Raging Abe Simpson and his Grumbling Grandson... in "Return of the Flying Hellfish" Premise: In World War II, Grampa was commander of the Hellfish - a crack commando unit whose loot of Nazi treasure has lain undisturbed for fifty years. But now all the Hellfish have died. Apart from Grampa and Mr Burns. And it's time to grab the treasure.

Features: Principal Skinner, Ms Krabappel, Milhouse, Nelson, Martin, Rev. Lovejoy, Mr Burns, Smithers, Jasper, Ned Flanders.

Couch: There's a giant plug in the living room. Homer pulls it out - and the family are sucked in.

Trivia:

  • The seven dead Hellfish were Sheldon Skinner, Ernie Gumble, Asa Phelps, Iggy Wiggum, Milton 'Ox' Hans, Ethell Westgrin and Griff McDonald.

Homage: The Flying Hellfish organisation's activities in wartime Germany recall The Dirty Dozen (Robert Aldrich, 1967). Grampa repeats part of Dorothy's closing speech from The Wizard of Oz.

Notes for Brits: Grampa's reference to a 'liberty sausage' refers to the patriotic renaming of German products such as frankfurters and sauerkraut during the world wars.

Notes: Notable for Mr Burns' impersonation of Marge, some spectacular action sequences, and some good underwater scenes - but not especially brilliant.
