The Simpsons | Episode Guide | Season Eight
Brother from Another Series

Sideshow Bob gets out of jail, but can the clown change his spots?

Episode 4F14
Written by Ken Keeler
Directed by Pete Michels
Also starring: Pamela Hayden
Special guest voices: Marcia Wallace (as Ms Krabappel), Kelsey Grammer (as Sideshow Bob), David Hyde Pierce (as Cecil)

Premise: Sideshow Bob is out of jail, a reformed man, working alongside his brother on a massive dam project. Only Bart holds any distrust for the man who has sworn to kill him.

Features: Krusty, Snake, Sideshow Bob, Mayor Quimby, Carl, Smithers, Miss Hoover, Lenny, Ned Flanders, Moe, Barney, Principal Skinner, Groundskeeper Willie, Mr van Houten, Dr Hibbert, Sideshow Mel, Chief Wiggum, Eddie, Lou, Dr Nick, Charlie, Jasper, Milhouse, Ms Krabappel, Cletus, Ralph.

Couch: The sofa and the family are suspended upside down from the ceiling, until they drop to the floor.

Homage: The US hit comedy series Frasier, which stars Kelsey Grammer in the title role.

Notes: To get the full benefit of this excellent episode, you need to a) know Sideshow Bob's entire background and b) watch Frasier in which David Hyde Pierce plays Kelsey Grammer's younger brother. The repartee between the two brothers is magnificent - this could almost be an episode of Frasier, it is so witty and sharp. And yet it's still a good Simpsons story with a twist in the tail.
