LEAVE YOUR MEMORIES FOR OTHERS TO READ
WORK

Catherine Lee nee Ambrose
After Mum made Dad leave ICI because he was becoming multicoloured due to the dyes he had to clean out of the boilers, she began to sew as an outworker I remember sitting on the living room floor with a long knitting needle turning out long streamers of cloth which were the strings for aprons. The work would arrive in a big bundle each week and a frenzied time would begin to get it done before collection time. It would be a groan when it arrived, but an even bigger groan if it did not!! no work no wages!
