Prince Charles reads on Jackanory

RealMedia: BBC reports Prince's Jackanory triumph

Guest Appearances

Is it a case of quashed desires to be in the acting limelight that makes some royals venture into television, or do they actually believe they look good?

Prince Charles famously read his own story - The Old Man of Lochnagar - on children's programe Jackanory. The other Royals, always careful to keep a firm hold on their credibility, went on to appear on 'It's A Royal Knockout' and US sitcom Friends.

Not content with starring in other people's TV programmes, Prince Edward turned his hand for a while to making them, with his Ardent Productions company.

Thankfully, 'It's a Gillette-Sponsored Right Royal Cockney EastEnders Charity Knees-Up' was pulled from the schedule to allow for Extra Time in the 1987 Essex Curling Championships.
