Star Trek

Where no man has gone before...

A TV pilot was filmed in the US, but the network wasn't satisfied. Worried execs thought Spock looked scarily devilish, and that the stories had no spark.

They went back to the drawing board and came up with Captain Kirk.

The original series was cancelled after only a three year US run on NBC in 1969 - just as it made it over in the UK.

The series is famous for featuring TV’s first inter-racial kiss, and the 79 original episodes have since inspired an animated show, several feature films, three spin-off series... and lots of merchandise.
