Trimphone

Trimphones

The Trimphone was BT's first luxury phone. It appeared in the mid 1960s but got buttons (instead of a dial) in 1977.

It was available in three colours, two-tone blue, green and ivory and was the coolest thing to have at your bedside. They were only available to rent as the telephone system was still a GPO monopoly at the time.

The name 'Trim' is apparently an acronym of 'Tone Ringer Illuminated Model' There was also a leather-clad version called the Deltaphone, acronym unknown.
