The Simpsons | Episode Guide | Season Four
Treehouse of Horror III

It's a cursed giant zombie monster doll spectacular.

Episode 9F04
Written by Al Jean, Mike Reiss, Jay Kogen, Wallace Wolodarsky, Sam Simon and Jon Vitti
Directed by Carlos Baeza

Premise: Another trio of Hallowe'en tales. In Clown Without Pity, Homer is pursued by a cursed Krusty doll; King Homer sees Marge joining up for an expedition to the tropics; and Dial Z for Zombies depicts a Springfield overrun by the living dead.

Couch: The Simpsons have become skeletons.

Tombstones: Drexel's Class, I'm With Stupid, R. Buckminster Fuller, Slapstick, American Workmanship, Fish Police, Capitol Critters, Family Dog.

Homage: Clown Without Pity is a nod to the Twilight Zone episode Living Doll, King Homer is an obvious homage to King Kong, and Dial Z... recalls George Romero's zombie pictures in general and Night of the Living Dead in particular.

Notes for Brits: Fish Police and Capitol Critters were flop US TV series that attempted to cash in on the success of The Simpsons. Drexel's Class was another Fox show that also flopped.

Notes: Another seasonal treat. Dial Z for Zombies is particularly impressive ('Dad, you killed the zombie Flanders!' 'He was a zombie?').
