No. 8 - First Contact. 1996

Just behind Star Trek IV, arguably the best big screen Trek outing. Patrick Stewart is superb as an Ahab-like Picard bent on destroying the Borg. A straight-faced action film directed by Jonathan Frakes, First Contact loses out in the human drama stakes. But the severity of the Borg threat, neat time travel plot and fine playing of the cast still produce a hugely entertaining film.
