Patrick Troughton plays immortal traveller Cole Hawkins. He also played the Second Doctor Who. The startling similarities between the two characters have kept fanboys excited for years.

Evil Abner Brown.Robert Stephens plays scheming evil incarnate Abner Brown. He was once married to Maggie Smith. In this he appears opposite Patricia Quinn (famous from the Rocky Horror Show). The two married in 1995, shortly before Stephens' death.

The title music is Victor Hely-Hutchinson's Carol Concert.

James Grout plays a policeman. He went on to play Chief Superintendent Strange ("You're off the case") in Inspector Morse.

Julian Sands cameos as a Greek Soldier. Perhaps his most famous roles were in Room with a View and Arachnaphobia

Nick Berry is a rat. This is before he starred in Heartbeat.

Roger Limb provides the haunting incidental music. He also worked extensively on Doctor Who during this period.

Renny Rye, the director, worked closely with Dennis Potter, directing his final works Cold Lazarus and Karaoke. He's recently worked on Sunburn.

John Masefield was Poet Laureate. He wrote 20 other novels, including a prequel, The Midnight Folk.
