Rowan Atkinson as Blackadder
VIDEO CLIP:
RealMedia: A clip from the first episode of Blackadder

Blackadder

Rowan Atkinson and Richard Curtis's comic tale of plotting and revenge in the dark ages launched a saga that would continue for over a decade.

The first series was very different from those that followed, when comic Ben Elton took over writing duties from Atkinson.

Perhaps the most obvious difference from later series was that, in Blackadder I, Edmund Blackadder was utterly stupid (though still scheming) and his servant Baldrick was actually quite cunning (though he still stank).
