The clip should play automatically after a few seconds. If not, click here.

Norman Stanley Fletcher (Ronnie Barker) is a habitual criminal who's spent much of his adult life 'doing porridge'. He finds himself in Slade prison and occupies himself by trying to outdo prison officers Mr Mackay (Fulton Mackay) and Mr Barrowclough (Brian Wilde). His faithful friend and cell mate is Lennie Godber (Richard Beckinsale). The show ran from 1974 to 1977 and a movie was released in 1979, shortly after the death of 31-year-old Richard Beckinsale. Note the complete lack of music in this title sequence.
