Roy Skelton

On leaving Drama School, Roy joined Oldham Rep as acting Assistant Stage Manager for six months, before joining the Bristol Old Vic as an actor.

He went on to appear in rep all over the UK before coming to London where he appeared on the BBC's Music for You and Quick Before They Catch Us, where he played a Psychotic Mad Piano Playing Villain! Roy continued working in theatre as his TV career took off.

His versatile voice lead to him being in great demand on various children's programmes starting with Toytown, a BBC puppet production, followed by Picture Book and Take a Chance. Amongst Roy's films are West 11, Girl in my Soup and Alfred Hitchcock's Frenzy.

When sci-fi television series Doctor Who started, Roy played the voices of the Daleks in many stories. He also voiced the Cybermen and the Krotons as well as playing several other roles in the series.

In the early 1970s Roy joined a new children's programme which was thought would run for four weeks, called Rainbow - over 20 years later he is still doing the voices of Zippy and George. He recently recorded the single Its a Rainbow, which was released in November 2002 and reached the UK Top 20.
