Crown

18 December 2004

We have a winner!

Puzzle solvers, treasure hunters and fans of Ghosts of Albion alike flocked to London's Prince Charles Cinema on Saturday 18 December 2004, all hoping to win the golden Crown of Charlemagne.

Rosalind Harvey, pictured with Cult favourite Anthony Daniels, beat off stiff competition to win the regal headgear, worth over £2,000 by facing a series of challenges set by puzzlemaster Chris Maslanka.

As well as the competition for the crown, attendees were able to see the first big screen presentation of Embers and meet the cast and crew.

Daniels (Nelson), was joined by fellow cast members Rory Kinnear (William), Jasmine Hyde (Tamara), Roy Skelton (Henry/Farris), India Fisher (Sophia) who all answered questions from the audience, along with director/producer John Ainsworth, composer Peter Green and sound designers Andy Hardwick and Gareth Jenkins.

Afterwards, Rosalind was treated to a slap up meal in Soho, then left to enjoy her powerful mystic prize.

Week four begins with a brand new episode of Embers featuring Zombie Nelson and the first of five new clues to solve.

Well done to everyone who played the puzzle trail this weekend. As you correctly discovered, the museum to play at was the The Newcastle Museum of Antiquities.

There are still VIP Passes to be won at the museum, so why not pop along and have a go? We'll let you know when all the passes have gone.

We've also launched a selection of tracks from Peter Green's score to Embers in the Music section.

Both Amber Benson and Christopher Golden are now posting on the messageboard. Why not pop along and discuss their work on Embers with them?

We've also added a mini video interview with India Fisher, who plays Sophia, to the Interviews section.

A new puzzle will be launched towards the end of the afternoon, and be sure to be near a computer tomorrow, as another internet radio clue is coming...

Well done to everyone who played the puzzle trail this weekend. It's no secret now that the museum to play at was the Pitt Rivers Museum in Oxford. There are still VIP Passes to be won at the museum, so why not pop along and have a go? We'll let you know when all the passes have gone.

5th November 2004

So, there now appears to be at least one possible answer for each puzzle this week. Try them (or your own solutions if they're different!) on the Ghosts of Albion homepage to see if you can unlock the secret location of this week's puzzle trail.

Please don't post details the location on the messageboard, as it might spoil the fun for others. Thanks and good luck if you're heading out to play today or this weekend.

You can continue to play until all the VIP passes at the location run out. We'll try to announce when they do on the site as soon as we possibly can.

If you are too late to win a pass, don't worry. Keep your completed puzzle sheet, as if you have the correct answer, there may be another chance to win later in the game...

3rd November 2004

Looks like we may have some winners already. Well done. We will officially announce who has won this week's puzzles next Monday, so don't panic if we haven't emailed you just yet.

The first clue is proving to be a tough one, as not everyone caught the Bill Heine's radio show. If nobody has cracked it by tomorrow, we'll give you a bigger hint.

1st November 2004

Welcome to the launch of Ghosts of Albion: Embers and the Quest for Charlemagne's Crown.

Over the next five weeks we will be presenting you with an hour of brand new Ghosts animation and giving you the chance to win the crown itself, worth around £2,000!

The first clue is already online, so be sure to set your radio or web browser to BBC Radio Oxford later today to solve puzzle number one.

Check back here for regular updates to the site, the quest and more over the coming weeks.
