Adults and children are still fascinated by it and many lofts across
the country still echo to the sound of tiny pistons.
In 1961 Hornby introduced a new model of the Pullman train in shiny
green, that proved a big hit.
Young, would-be train drivers, guards and station masters, cut
up cardboard boxes to make tunnels, station platforms and hills.
These were then painted to give each layout that authentic look.
Nowadays, all creativity is lost as kids can buy everything off
the shelf - in a cardboard box.
