The Remco made dolls hit the shelves in 1964 and promptly shot
off them again. Standing a measly 5" tall with either rubber
or plastic bodies and rubber heads they sported lifelike hair and
the likenesses of John, Paul, George or Ringo. A Pete Best doll
doesn't ever seem to have got off the ground.
Each doll was issued with their respective black
with gold trim plastic instrument which bore that Fab One's signature,
although they didn't do them all by hand, obviously.
Today the Beatles Dolls are ludicrously expensive.
If you find a set lying around in your parents' loft you're looking
at 500 dollars' worth to an American collector.
You can see why John Lennon described being immortalised
in plastic as 'The highest achievement you could ever get.'
