The hills and open spaces of Britain became over-crowded and chaotic
with the trend of 1976. Kite-flying became the coolest skill to
have and Peter Powell was the man responsible.
He made stunt kites that became popular with the ordinary person
- no expert skill was needed but adults and children alike often
ended up with a degree of talent for the sport.
He made loop-the-loop look easy and found fame by floating his
granny up into the air in one of his kites.
