Omar Sharif and Julie Christie headed up this adaption of Boris
Pasternak's novel of the Russian Revolution.
The epic romance is captured in flashback form and shows pre-war
Russia and the changing political controls. Amidst all the uncertainty
Dr Zhivago begins a torrid love affair.
Writer Boris Pasternak won the Nobel Prize for his novel, but refused
to accept the award.
No such problems for David Lean, whose film was nominated
for 10 Ocars - it won five. Not a bad score at all.
