The Sex Pistols

Despite a BBC radio ban (due to its 'treasonous sentiments'), The Sex Pistols' 'God Save the Queen' reached number 2 at the height of the Jubilee celebrations.

The group formed with the help of entrepreneur Malcolm McLaren during the summer of 1975.

They used to hang around the punk clothes shop 'Sex' which was run by McLaren and Vivienne Westwood.

US punks The Ramones had a hit with 'Sheena is a Punk Rocker'.
