Paul McCartney

Mull of Kintyre

'Mull of Kintyre' stands as a testament to how even the most gifted songwriters can turn out a real turkey at Christmas time.

Despite featuring a chorus of bagpipes and being released at the height of the punk explosion, the song stayed at Number One for a staggering nine weeks - finally being knocked off the top of the chart by Althia and Donna with 'Uptown Top Ranking' on February 4th, 1978.

It lost the accolade of being the worst ever Paul McCartney song to 'We All Stand Together' with the Frog Chorus in 1984.
