Shoulder Pads were the epitome of Eighties chic - and possibly one of the worst fashion
statements ever. Shoulder pads rank alongside mutton chop sideburns
and shell suits as one of the great fashion disasters.
But women loved them. Was it some sort of Freudian shoulder-envy
obsession, did it keep you warm, or was it peer pressure from Dynasty
stars like Joan Collins or Dallas that created the demand?
Who knows, but they became big - in all senses of the word - in the 1980s.
