Teletubbies

Broadcast after months of research, it left frozen parents camping outside toy stores in mid-December to satisfy the little darlings Christmas wish (in addition to the Spice Girls toys of course).

A viewer of this contemporary alternative to Watch with Mother shows everything twice and hears everything in baby gabble.

Tinky Winky, Dipsy, Laa-Laa and Po took America and Europe by storm but the programme makers were accused of encouraging children to speak incorrect English with phrases like 'eh-oh!' instead of 'hello'.

Check out the Teletubbies' own website.
