Why is the look of the Enterprise such a design classic?

I think that the design of the Enterprise is Herman Zimmerman�s genius, and I think that by keeping Herman on as the designer through all the different stages of Star Trek has kept this consistent look that that a particular artist brings to the table - no pun intended. So, I think it�s Herman�s vision of the future.

When we negotiate our contracts, Paramount�s company line is that the ship is in fact the star of the show!
