Ever since Blue Peter's early days the show has had a long association with that other stalwart of the television schedules.
Whether it's showing how to make a Dalek out of egg boxes or a Doctor Who theatre, complete with instructions on sound effects, Blue Peter has been there.
Blue Peter introduced us to various Doctors, K9 and Bonnie Langford and even showed us a Dalek car that was fit for the roads. We've seen the Sixth Doctor tame Jack the disappearing cat and there's been many a competition, including one to design a monster.
Like Blue Peter, Doctor Who captured children's imagination and inspired a deep affection amongst the public and the press alike. Four presenters (see above) have also appeared in the programme (but more of that in our trivia section).
It's fitting that in the year Blue Peter celebrates its forty-fifth anniversary the good Doctor is celebrating forty years on television, and even more fitting that Blue Peter should celebrate the event with an edition looking back at the series past (21st November 2003).
With Doctor Who coming back to television in 2005, we can hopefully expect Blue Peter to feature many more behind-the-scenes reports, Who makes and introductions to Doctors, companions and weird aliens.
