When Mark Curry decided to leave, the production team set about the task of recruiting a presenter who would be equally popular with viewers, but who, in contrast to Mark, would be up for a lot more of the physical challenges of the show
Step forward John Leslie. Tall, good-looking and a bit of a hunk, he became Blue Peter's first Scottish presenter and female viewers tuned-in in their droves.
Shortly afterwards Caron Keating announced she was leaving and thirty-year old actress Diane-Louise Jordan made the decision to accept the call, rather than head off to the cobble streets of Coronation Street, which had offered her a regular part at the same time.
In June 1992 Yvette Fielding announced she was leaving after a five-year stint. On 14th September 1992 Anthea Turner became the show's twentieth presenter (twenty-first if you count Peter Duncan twice!).
Together John, Anthea and Diane proved a top team. This was the era of Tracy Island fever, the Pieces of Eight Appeal and the show's thirty-fifth anniversary.
