War Hero: Spike Milligan started out as one of the Goons. He met fellow Goon Harry Secombe whilst fighting in the Second World War.

Award: Spike was made an Honorary Knight of the British Empire (KBE) by Queen Elizabeth II in the 2000 New Year Honours List. Unfortunately, Spike could only be an honorary knight as he was an Irish citizen and thus was never known as Sir Spike.

India: Spike was actually born in Ahmed Nagar, India (in 1918) son of an Irish Captain in the British Raj.

Dalek: Spike played a 'Pakistani Dalek' in a sketch which was later included in the 1993 documentary entitled "Doctor Who: Thirty Years in the Tardis".

Deadyawn : Was the name of Spike's character in the recent BBC production Gormenghast.

Eddie Izzard : Dubbed Spike "the godfather of alternative comedy". Which is quite an accolade.
