Tight Jeans

Tight Jeans

Tight jeans were part of the early Mod scene and were a key shift from the stuffy older people's fashions to the youth culture fashions.

The fad came across from America, and was all part of the rock'n'roll boom. It was popular with both women and men - who had the opportunity to show off their 'bulging packages'.

This ceased to be cool when it was found that strangling your scrotum in such a way was far from good for your sperm count.

Tight denim was quickly replaced by the airy flared, patched and shredded jeans of the hippy movement, but it returned in the late '70s with punk.
