Alfred Hitchcock

The Birds

After Psycho hit the cinemas in 1960, moviegoers were quite right to be a little worried about Hitchcock's 'The Birds'. It was almost as spooky as its predecessor but definitely more bizarre.

The plot basically revolves around a small seaside town which is invaded and terrorised by a fierce and terrifying group of animals. Were they bears, a pack of wolves or a herd of wildebeest? No, it was a flock of birds. Not any old birds however, these were mean, nasty birds.

As the characters are terrorised by ferocious pecking beaks and squawking frenzies you will catch yourself peering out at those pigeons on your back lawn and wondering if they are up to something.

'Have you ever seen so many gulls? What do you suppose it is?'
