Dick Emery

Dick Emery

The long running comedy sketch show introduced us to weird and wonderful characters such as Kitchener Lampwick, a wheezy old soldier, Randy Mandy
Sex-starved Hettie, Bovver Boy The Toothy Vicar and Camp Clarence.

The characters must have struck a chord because the Dick Emery Show ended up spitting out 166 editions over 18 years.

One of these favourites was Mandy, a real 'blonde' who was one of Emery's vox pop characters. She was the confused and rather dim girl who originally just made her mark giving bemused looks to the cameras, but eventually progressed to her catchphrase 'ooh, you are awful', accompanied by a rather heavy nudge.
