RealMedia: Brian Cant's Memories of Play School

Play School

There's a bear in there...

If Play School isn't an institution then what is? Generation after generation enjoyed watching happy presenters chatting to bears, cutting and pasting and telling the time on the Play School Clock, not to mention looking through the window. 'Which window shall we look through today?'

Play School was not only the start of the pre-school age ratings war but was also the first programme aired on BBC2. This wasn't so that TV exec's could get the viewers loyalty from an early age, but because huge blackouts around London delayed the launch of the new station by almost a day.
