Thunderbirds

5... 4... 3... 2... 1... Thunderbirds Are Go!

Who would have thought a group of puppets could capture not only the nation, but the world? But then, these aren't any old puppets, these are International Rescue puppets dontcha know?

The brains behind the operation was Gerry Anderson who, after finishing a previous series called Stingray, had to come up with a new and exciting idea and Thunderbirds were born.

There were thirteen main puppets created for the show which were controlled from a bridge walkway 12ft above the set. Some of the characters were based on famous faces of the time with the heroic lead character Scott Tracy based on Sean Connery.
