Released in 1986, Withnail & I had already gained a cult following
by 1987.
The ultimate student picture, it is the tale of two down-and-out
actors (Grant and Paul McGann) sharing a squalid flat - and several
tons of drugs - in Sixties London.
The pair go to detoxify in the country, where they fall
prey to the outrageously camp Uncle Monty.
Crammed full of memorable lines and sound advice on ways to poison
yourself, the film is also surprisingly moving. A true cult classic.
