The Internet

Before 1995 the letters 'www' meant little to anyone outside a university computer department.

But, as phone lines, modems and home computers became cheaper and faster (and Windows 95 was launched) more and more people began exploring the world of the web.

It wasn't intended as a toy, but despite attempts to make it a business tool, using the internet still remains primarily a leisure activity.

And it will come as no surprise to learn that up to 50 per cent of internet traffic still involves pornography.
