Import-ant TV

Simpsons is the best US import says industry magazine.

Broadcast has named and shamed the best and worst programmes from the States that have made their way over here.

The best import, according to a poll of top TV executives, is The Simpsons, with the worst being Baywatch.

About Baywatch, Broadcast said, "The appeal to a certain demographic of a series about a muscular lifeguard and his crew of pneumatic young helpers with raging hormones was enough to sustain this show through 12 years, despite a script of mind-numbing predictability."

Here's the full run down.

10 Best US imports:

  • The Simpsons
  • Dallas
  • M*A*S*H
  • 24
  • The Larry Sanders Show
  • Hill Street Blues
  • The X-Files
  • I Love Lucy
  • Twin Peaks
  • Star Trek: The Next Generation

10 Worst US imports

  • Baywatch
  • Anna Nicole Show
  • Dukes of Hazzard
  • Wild Palms
  • Manimal
  • The Jerry Springer Show
  • Knots Landing
  • Falcon Crest
  • The Bold and the Beautiful
  • Extreme Makeover

Here at Cult, Rob's upset that Buffy didn't make the Best list, James is surprised there's no mention of Sydney Bristow and her wigs, and Dan has outed himself as having a soft spot for the Valene Clements Ewing Ewing Gibson Waleska Ewing (she got married a lot) drama that was Knots Landing.
