Alternative Christmas

The Simpsons will offer an alternative to the Queen's Christmas message.

Channel 4 is upholding its tradition of screening a Christmas message with a difference on the big day.

Traditionally ITV and BBC simultaneously broadcast a Christmas message from Her Majesty the Queen on 25 December. In recent years Channel 4 has been joining in by screening an alternative address.

The Simpsons will now follow in the footsteps of Quentin Crisp, Rev. Jesse Jackson, Doreen and Neville Lawrence, Ali G and Sharon Osbourne in broadcasting to the nation on Christmas Day.

In a piece specially-commissioned by Channel 4, Marge Simpson and her family give their view of the year and the world in 2004.

The Simpsons' Christmas Message is on Channel 4 on Christmas day at 3pm.
