TV on Trial verdict

The result of BBC Four's vote for your favourite decade.

After a week of heated debate and nostalgia wallowing, the search for the nation's golden age of television is over.

In the end, it was 70s that triumphed; the era of Fawlty Towers, Play For Today, The Sweeney, Basil Brush and Love Thy Neighbour.

More than 12,000 of you voted. Here's the results in full:

1970s: 31%

1980s: 23%

1990s: 18%

1960s: 14%

2000s: 11%

1950s: 3%
