The Simpsons go musical for one episode only.
Episode 5F24
Written by Steve O'Donnell
Directed by Mark Ervin
Premise: Told entirely in verse, this is yet another clips show, linked by Snake's attempts to rob the Simpsons, but put off by their singing. Needless to say, all the clips feature songs.
Features: Snake.
Couch: The floor is a conveyor belt and Homer trips and falls under the couch, repeatedly trying to get up but sucked under.
Trivia:
- The family ask Homer to hire either Waiting to Exhale (Deborah Schindler, 1995) or Emma (Douglas MacGrath, 1996) but he rents Paint Your Wagon (Joshua Logan, 1969), assuming it's a traditional Clint Eastwood Western.
- Of course, it isn't, but it does make Lisa realise that she finds Lee Marvin singing 'dreamy'.
Look out for: A good selection of clips, actually, from Homer's Barbershop Quartet, Bart After Dark, Boy Scoutz 'n the Hood, Homer and Apu, Krusty Gets Kancelled', Two Dozen and One Greyhounds, Marge versus the Monorail, Bart Sells his Soul and Homer the Great.
Song: Not a song as such, but the last word goes to the family singing 'There is something worse, and it really does blow, when a long-running series, does another clip show.' Indeed.
Notes: For a clips show (the fourth, as they point out via a strategically placed banner in the living room), it's not bad, and it's always a pleasure to hear Mr Burns sing his song from Two Dozen and One Greyhounds">. The only one missing really is Dr Zaius from A Fish Called Selma. We like Snake's attempts to stop the theme tune over the closing credits, too.
