Vitas Mortis
Teleplay by Grant McAloon
Directed by Tony Tilse
PLOT
Following up a rumour, D'Argo, Crichton and Zhaan searched out an old Luxan called Nilaam who was said to live in the Uncharted Territories.
She does. And she is Luxan but she's what's called an Orican, a powerful Luxan holy woman. And she is really old: she's on the verge of dying. So when she grants D'Argo the honour of becoming her attendant, he takes the job immediately ignoring Crichton's worries.
For Crichton is deeply suspicious of Nilaam and tells her so, expecting a lie or some reassurance. Instead he gets an honest appraisal of the situation: Nilaam does not want to harm D'Argo but, yes, it's true that he could die when he attends her final moments.
Fortunately, he doesn't. He's in agony and he's screaming, but he's fine and Nilaam should be using his energy to help her pass into the next world.
Only, she's finding him rather stronger than advertised and sees a chance to hold on to this world for a time longer. And as D'Argo writhes in pain, Nilaam rejuvenates into a much younger Luxan woman.
But shortly after that happens, Pilot begins to notice that Moya's health is failing: holes are appearing in the hull and Chiana gets trapped in a discharge.
With Rygel suddenly and fortunately disposed, Crichton, Aeryn and Zhaan have to work out what's happening to Moya and stop it. Nilaam wants to help but surely it's not a coincidence that she regenerates while Moya is degenerating?
