Dad's Army

Dad's Army

''Who do you think you are kidding Mr Hitler?"

The term Dad's Army was given to the British Home Guard during World War II, as it was predominately made up of men who didn't qualify for active service.

The characters became household names especially Capt. Mainwaring- 'Right then. Pay attention, men', Corporal Jones-'Don't Panic Mr Mainwaring, don't panic' and Private Fraser-'We're doomed, I say. Doomed'.

Dad's Army ran for nine years and produced around 80 episodes. The scene where a sneering German submarine commander encounters Mainwaring was voted the funniest comedy scene of all time in 1999.
