Michael is an obnoxious actor who ends up with no work because
of his attitude. He hears of a part in a soap and decides to go
for it, even though it's a female part.
He poses as Dorothy Michaels and wins the part, and the adoration of the viewers. Unfortunately he ends up falling in love with his co-star (Jessica Lange) who doesn't realise that Dorothy... well, isn't. In turn, her father courts Dorothy, and things get messy.
In the end, Michael discovers that dressing up as a woman has made him a better man.
