Craig David & Eminem

Rap Returns and UK Garage Arrives

US Rap acts had been going through a rough period in the late Nineties, as NWA and Run DMC lost their hold on the UK charts.

All that changed when legendary rapper Dr Dre pushed his prodigy Eminem onto the UK scene with the Slim Shady LP.

Meanwhile the UK had discovered a new dance sound, mixing R&B with Drum & Bass to produce UK Garage.

The most successful exponent of the sound was Artful Dodger, who reached No.1 with Re-Rewind featuring Craig David in December 1999.
