101 Dalmatians
VIDEO CLIP:
RealMedia: The author of the 101 Dalmatians book tells her tale (tail, dog, geddit?)

One Hundred and One Dalmatians

The perfect recipe for a successful movie; cute puppies, likeable characters and a scary baddie!

Perhaps the most well known and instantly recognisable character (aside from all those spots spots spots!) is Cruella De Vil. With her fur coats, cigars and a distinct lack of tenderness for puppies - unless as part of her coat, Cruella was enough to enter the nightmares of children and parents alike.

The multiple puppy effects were made using Xeroxography, which was cutting edge technology for that time. This allowed the animators to duplicate puppies rather than hand draw the entire 101. Just as well, as there are over 6 million hand drawn spots in the film. But then who's counting?

And if you were in any doubt as to who was the mastermind behind the movie, see if you can spot (pardon the pun) the world famous rodent hidden in the opening sequence...
