Bruce Forsyth

The Generation Game

Devised by a Dutch housewife, it went on to become the number one game show in Britain.

Hosted first by Bruce Forsyth and later by Larry Grayson it featured four couples from four different families competing in obscure quizzes and challenges.

The game came in two parts: quizzes involving guessing film themes, spotting disguised personalities etc; challenges in which contestants watched an expert demonstrate their skill (plate spinning, icing a cake, making pots) and then copy.

Every episode ended with a memory game involving a conveyor belt and the obligatory cuddly toy.
