The Liver Birds

The Liver Birds

Charting the ups and downs of two young female friends, Beryl and Sandra, (Polly James and Nerys Hughes) sharing a bedsit in Huskisson Road, Liverpool.

Their life revolved around romance, finance and family trouble.

The cast evolved over the series; after Beryl married, Sandra got a new flatmate Carol whose Catholic mother was a forerunner of Breads Nellie Boswell.

The show was co-written at first by Carla Lane but by the fourth season she was in charge.
