Inflatable Bee

Inflatables

The craze for all things inflatable began in the football stands at Maine Road.

One of Manchester City's players, Imre Varadi, was nicknamed Banana, and team supporters started waving blow-up bananas about! Soon supporters of other clubs around the country were doing the same.

Norwich City supporters waved blow-up yellow canaries, Brentford supporters billowed in the wind with Bees and strangest of all must have been Grimsby Town whose supporters carved the air with inflatable cod!

Not long after came the huge influx of all things inflatable: sofas, picture frames, shapes for holding your drink in the pool and animals.
