RealMedia: Smoking memories

Chocolate Cigarettes

Back in the days when it was cool to smoke, kids would be treated to chocolate or sugar cigarettes - to get them ready for the hard stuff.

In 1962 the candy cigarette bank was introduced - a sort of vending machine a bit like the ones you get in pubs now, but child sized of course.

You can still get pretend cigarettes today, but they're not on display in every corner shop as they used to be - it's socially unacceptable to smoke and it's no fun getting pretend cancer.

How come they're still selling kiddy cocaine though - or is that Sherbet?
